"Artdocfest/Riga" competition film premiere at the Berlinale

Tonight, on February 15th, the 74th Berlin International Film Festival will be opened, where the documentary film "A Bit of a Stranger" (Ukraine) will have its World premiere in the "Panorama" program. The film will be screened in Riga during the first week of March at the 4th International Documentary Film Festival "Artdocfest/Riga".

The curators of the Berlin International Film Festival's "Panorama" program select films that serve as bridges between human experiences and the possibilities offered by cinematography, allowing one to feel the pulse of the planet and encouraging a focus on what deserves special attention. Shortly after its premiere in Berlin, the director of the film "A Bit of Stranger," Svitlana Lishchinska, will go to Riga to meet with the audience at the "Artdocfest Open" competition screening of "Artdocfest/Riga".

Svitlana Liščinska was born in the long and purposefully russified part of Ukraine. In this film, she wants to show audiences beyond borders how Russia's imperial politics and Soviet totalitarianism changed Ukrainian cultural identity and self-perception, examining both her family's and her country's past and present. She explores the colonized corners of her own, her daughter's and her mother's mind, seeking to understand how the traces of historical injustices can be erased.

Film screenings will take place on Sunday, March 3rd, at the "Splendid Palace" cinema in the Grand Hall at 6:30 p.m., followed by a Q&A with the director, and on Friday, March 8th, at the "Splendid Palace" cinema in the Small Hall at 8:00 p.m.

"Artdocfest/Riga" film screenings will take place at the traditional festival venues - the "Splendid Palace" cinema and the "Zuzeum" art center.
